WE OFFER OURSELVES TO GOD
PRAYER OF HEALING
Although we believe we are experts at faithfulness, Holy God,
we need to acknowledge we are unskilled workers at doing good for others.
Too often, we turn a deaf ear to the cries of people we have judged to be fools.
We easily scoff at those we believe have nothing to teach us or share with us.
How foolish, Searching God, how foolish we are!
Change us, and restore us to your goodness.
Then, send us forward to search for all who sit in the shadowed corners of our world,
yearning for someone to come and find them,
even as Jesus Christ, our healer and help, came to find us.
(Time for silent prayer and meditation)
WORDS OF GRACE AND COMFORT
Our actions sometimes show we do not know God.
Our words and lives show we do not understand God's hopes for the world.
But with utmost patience, God sets aside our foolishness and our unhelpful assumptions.
Mingled with faith and love, grace is poured into our parched souls,
giving us new life, as God's children. Thanks be to God.

SUPER SUNDAY|SEPT 25 |BOTTLE DRIVE |GUC
On the fourth Sunday of every month, the GUC Playschool children delight and amuse the congregation with songs and poems they have learned. ALL CHILDREN are invited to attend a special Sunday School program with games, crafts, stories, and some general silliness! After worship, we will gather together again to share a delicious lunch, enjoy fellowship, and make some new friends. Many of our young families are very busy, so Super Sunday is a great way to attend Sunday School and worship once a month yet still stay connected with the GUC family.
Sunday, Sept. 25th is our first Super Sunday kicking off the fall Sunday School program. Mark this date on your calendar and encourage all those young families in your world to attend. It's a TAILGATE party in the parking lot and BOTTLE DRIVE. If you have bottles, bring them and help load up the trailer in the parking lot. All monies from this bottle drive will fund programming for youth at Grace United. Monthly bottle drives will not happen this year. We will have 2 Bottle Drives- end of Sept. and the end of May. Thanks everyone. Start collecting.
YOUTH CONFIRMATION l SEPT 27 TO NOV 29 l 6:30 - 8:30 PM| GRADE 10 & BEYOND.
What is confirmation?
The continuation of Christian growth which began at baptism.
In confirmation, we remember our Baptism, renew our covenant (promises) that our
parents made for us when we were baptized.
Confirmation is not only an opportunity for us to “confirm” our commitment to God and
the Church, it is
- an opportunity to continue to learn and grow in faith, your understanding of God,
Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
- a time to look into the Bible and talk about how it is relevant in today’s world.
- an opportunity to develop some tools that will help you come closer to God.
- a time to learn about the gifts God has given you and how you will use them in
the world to serve another.
- learning about worship, social justice and service.
- a way to get to know more people in the church and community.
- experimentation, friendship in action, a safe place to make mistakes.
- a committed time for the church community and God to publicly and visibly
“confirm” their commitment to you, as a part of the whole people of God.
Please speak to Rev. Cathy if you are interested in being a part of youth confirmation.
We will meet from Mid-September to mid-November. This will include an overnight retreat at the church.
TIME & TALENT|NOV 16|DOORS OPEN AT 4:30 PM|GUC HALL
Planning is well underway, and we have more details to share:
Tickets $30 each Reserved Tables of 6 or 8 will be available
Silent Auction bidding starts @ 4:30pm Roast Beef Dinner @ 6:00pm
Live Auction @ 7:00pm Cash, Cheque, and Debit/Credit Card
We’ll have more details to share on where and when to purchase tickets, before too long.
With costs increasing to host such an event, and to keep the ticket pricing affordable, we are looking
for two or three more Event Sponsors. Our Event Sponsors pay $700, and will receive a tax receipt. This money helps cover the cost of the meal and table rental, so that ticket sales monies can go directly towards the evenings total. For more information on being an Event Sponsor for the Time & Talent Fundraiser Auction, please call Deb Lundquist at 780-871-1652. Thanks for your support!
CONNECTING COMMUNITY
Do you know of someone who would like to tell their story? Do they defy a stereotype? Have they overcome a hardship? Do you think they have a story that would help others? If so, we are looking for more people to become storytellers in the "My Life is an Open Book" series. Storytellers are expected to give thought and write out their stories before sharing in front of the group. Contact Lana if you or someone know is interested.
On a Connecting Community scheduled day, stories will be shared live in front of a 4-5 people audience for 40-45 minutes with follow-up questions and comments. The goal of this Connecting Community series is to challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. When we learn more about each other, the GATEWAY TO THE HEART opens a little wider. STORIES coming together for September Connection include:
I'm a parent of a child with special needs…
ADHD in adulthood…
Mental health challenges and how they've made me who I am…
I'm an Adult living with PTSD…
With funding from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, the GUC aims to help Seniors connect with the community. TICKETS are FREE and will be available in the office the week of September 12th. Are you a senior who is interested in fellowship, physical activity, education and conversation that may challenge stereotypes and prejudices in our world? For more information, talk to Lana.

As beloved children of God, all are included in the life and ministry of the Grace Family
where diversity is celebrated.
Grace remembers, as we celebrate God’s presence in worship,
that Grace United Church gathers on Treaty 6 land,
the traditional territory of the Plains, Wood Cree, Assiniboine and Métis peoples.
As Treaty people, we seek to live with respect on this land and live in peace and
friendship with all our relations.
