CHILDREN’S TIME “Cloth for the Cradle”
Cloth for the cradle, cradle for the child,

WE OFFER OURSELVES TO GOD
PRAYER OF HEALING
We hear your call to walk in the light,
but shadows seem to obscure the brightness of your glory and truth.
Give us courage to walk in the light.
Give us hope to look for the world you are creating within us,
among us and throughout creation.
When we return to the shadows, lead us once more in the light of hope, faith and love.
Work within our hearts God to transform all of creation into a haven of peace
and reconciliation for all.
(A moment of reflection)
(A moment of reflection)
WORDS OF GRACE AND COMFORT
In Christ, God’s new creation has arrived.
In Christ, God’s promised renewal breaks forth.
In Christ, all are drawn to the light to bring grace and comfort to the world.
Thanks be to God.
THE SCRIPTURE SPEAKS TO US
SCRIPTURE READING - Old Testament
Isaiah 2:1-5 – Swords into ploughshares
In this is God’s Holy Word. Thanks be to God.
Responsive Psalm 122 – The universal pilgrimage from James Taylor’s “Everyday Psalms”
God calls people everywhere to a pilgrimage.
From all over the world, many feet beat a path to God’s holy places.
They struggle over high mountain passes; they shuffle across dusty deserts;
they crawl along the walls of river canyons.
Straggling lines of searchers converge in a fertile valley;
a great shout of joy goes to the heavens.
Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Indigenous – in common cause
the great religions rise above doctrinal difference.
Pray for their unity; pray for their commitment.
May they not threaten each other; may they generate peace among their peoples.
God, watching over them, says,
“They do not all call themselves my followers.
Yet, because they are siblings meeting in harmony, I will treat them as my own.”
Because they do God’s will, God welcomes them.

ADVENT – PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS | NOV & DEC|GUC
As the season that is notoriously wrapped in materialism, busyness and exhaustion comes closer, the Christian Development committee is inviting you to a very special family service on Sunday, December 18th. During service, congregational members and Sunday School children will be acting out the story, "Twas the Evening of Christmas", by Glenys Nellist. This will a morning of wonder & magic as we prepare our hearts and minds for the Nativity of Christ at Christmas. We are in need of child actors for the following parts in the story:
Youth Angel Mary Joseph Baby Jesus
Mary Mice Shepherds King 1
Joseph King 2 King 3 Choir of Angels-Kidz Praize Contact Lana at lanalanegraceu@gmail.com if your child would like to take part. Children will need to practice at least one Sunday, either Sunday, Dec. 4th or Sunday, Dec. 11th. It would be great if children could make both practices. On Sunday, Dec. 18th children will meet downstairs in the Playschool space by 9:45 a.m. Parents will be responsible for the simple costuming (we do have some items at the Church). If you have any questions about costumes, please give us a call to the office. Following service, we will have cookies and hot chocolate.
JOY OF MUSIC|NOV & DEC|3:45 - 5:00 PM|GUC
We are still in the hunt for musicians. Unfortunately, registration has been really low. Kidz Praize, ages 5-10, has been changed to WEDNESDAYS after school from 4:00 - 5:00 in hopes of attracting more young people. The day being changed has helped.

As beloved children of God, all are included in the life and ministry of the Grace Family
where diversity is celebrated.
Grace remembers, as we celebrate God’s presence in worship,
that Grace United Church gathers on Treaty 6 land,
the traditional territory of the Plains, Wood Cree, Assiniboine and Métis peoples.
As Treaty people, we seek to live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with all our relations.
