Words:  Walter Farquharson      Arr: Ron Klusmeier

WE OFFER OURSELVES TO GOD

PRAYER OF HEALING (Adapted and used with permission from Gathering, Pentecost 2, 2022, D.Sparks)

Will you celebrate with your friends in Christ?

We rejoice in times when we can connect and share Christ’s meal together.

Will you seek to understand the viewpoint of your friends in Christ?

We will search out those whose approach to faith is different from our own.

Will you be companions to your friends in Christ?

We will stay with them when the going is rough and the pressure is on.

Will you make new friends in Christ, and in the broader community of Christ?

We will look for those within the faith community and those beyond in need of a friend.

Will you commit to deepening and expanding your faith practice of being friends in Christ?

(Time for silent prayer and meditation)

WORDS OF GRACE AND COMFORT

In the joy of friendship, in the testing times,

In the moments of rejection, in the moments of unconditional acceptance,

Christ is present as a friend and guide.  Thanks be to God. Amen.

WORLD WIDE COMMUNION 2022

INVITATION

As people of Christ, gathered at table, with our siblings around the world,
we remember whose we are, we shout,
Alleluia! Thanks be to God!
Shall we pray?
With all that we have, with all that we are,
we worship you, God-of-all-Being.

Bless this day. Bless this time. Bless this gathering.
Bless this world, with your overflowing love. Alleluia!
Alleluia! Amen!

CALL TO GIVE THANKS

God is with you. And with your spirit.
Lift up your hearts.

We lift them to the One who cradles our hearts in loving hands.
Let us give thanks to God. It is right to give God thanks and praise.

THANKSGIVING

SONG OF CREATION – Holy Lord – Lyrics and Music John Bell

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might;
Heav’n and earth of your glory are full,
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might;
Heav’n and earth of your glory are full,
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord;

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might;
Heav’n and earth of your glory are full,
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.

REMEMBERING JESUS AT TABLE

On the night before he was taken to his death,
Jesus gathered with his followers, he took bread, gave thanks to you,
God of all creation,
and offered it to those gathered at the table saying,
Take this and eat.
This is my body, given for you.
Each time you eat it, remember me.

After the meal was over, he took a cup of wine, and gave thanks to you,
God of all love.

He offered it to those gathered at the table saying,
Take this and drink.

This is my promise, my life poured out for you.

Each time you drink it, remember me.
PRAYER OF SELF-GIVING

We come together to re-member,
that we are Christ’s people, all around the world.
We are Christ’s people – no matter what!
We shout ALLELUIA!
  We sing AMEN!

Even in our brokenness and wayward living,
you call us back with your love.
Through parents and grandparents,
through prophets and preachers and everyday people,
you call us back to your love.

And through Jesus the Christ!
A tiny baby, a teenager, a person, like us!
Through him,

you taught us there is nothing
that can separate us from your love –not even death!
ALLELUIA!
AFFIRMATION OF MEMORY AND HOPE

In celebration for the gift of his life,
the gift of his teaching, the gift of his death and resurrection,

we eat, we drink, we remember.

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

 PRAYER OF TRANSFORMATION

SHARING THE BREAD AND JUICE

Jesus Christ, the bread of life! Amen!
Jesus Christ, the cup of love. Amen!
The gifts of God, for all God’s people!

Thanks be to God!
COMMUNAL PRAYER FOLLOWING COMMUNION
For the bread we have eaten, for the wine we have tasted,
for the Spirit in which we live, we thank you, God of all love!
May this burst of flavour, be on our lips and in our hearts,

so we can share your love, with your world.
Alleluia! Amen!

As beloved children of God, all are included in the life and ministry of the Grace Family

where diversity is celebrated.

Grace remembers, as we celebrate God’s presence in worship,

that Grace United Church gathers on Treaty 6 land,

the traditional territory of the Plains, Wood Cree, Assiniboine and Métis peoples.

As Treaty people,

we seek to live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with all our relations.
