Poverty Simulation Workshop

12.png

The poverty simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month.  It is a simulation, not a game.  The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people.   The simulation is conducted in a large room with the “families” seated in groups in the centre of the room.

Around the perimeter are tables representing community resources and services for the families.  These services include a Bank, Super Centre, Community Action Agency, Employer, Utility Company, Pawn Broker, Grocery Store, Social Service Agency, Faith-Based Agency, Payday Place, the Title Loan Facility, Mortgage Company, School, Community Health Center, and the Child Care Centre.

We are looking for 80 participants to partake in this incredible and worthwhile experience.  No fee for the workshop that runs 1:30 p.m. – 4:00.  Those interested can sign up in the office or get in contact with Lana at lanalanegraceu@gmail.com or 403.901.8385.

Thank you to Synergy Credit Union and Lloydminster Cooperative for sponsoring this event!
